Staying Motivated: How I Keep Going as a Content Creator
Staying motivated is one of the biggest challenges when starting something new or pushing through difficult times. Recently, someone asked me how I stay motivated as a content creator. It’s a great question because staying consistent with creating videos, especially when life get hectic, isn’t always easy. Here’s what keeps me motivated:
1. My Family
Family is my number one motivator. As an entrepreneur, time is precious and I’ve learned to align my passion for content creation with what I love doing with my wife. YouTube and content creation are not only ways to express ourselves but also tools to build a better future.
Wouldn’t it be amazing if YouTube could cover all your expenses? For me, that’s a long-term goal, using YouTube as a consistent income source while allowing extra business income to go toward investments and growth. More time with family and financial freedom? That’s what I’m striving for.
2. Financial Responsibilities
let’s face it, bills don’t stop coming. Personal and business expenses are constant reminders of why I need to keep creating. Content creation is a key part of how I meet those responsibilities. Staying consistent with creating videos is not just a creative outlet, it’s a way to ensure I’m contributing to our financial goals.
3. Achieving Goals
I’ve been on Youtube for a long time, but now I have a renewed focus. Hitting 100,000 subscribers is a goal of mine, not just for the vanity of a big number but as a symbol of growth and consistency.
I’ve seen smaller channels thrive, proving you don’t need huge subscriber counts to make an impact. While my channel has grown over the years, much of my old content catered to a niche audience. Now, I’m reaching out to a broader audience and the engagement I’ve seen in has been incredible.
4. Belief in Myself
Belief is everything. I know that as long as I keep creating and staying consistent, success is inevitable. Seeing others achieve their goals through hard work inspires me to keep going.
5. Personal Development
Motivation comes and goes, but personal development keeps me steady. I consume a lot of content from creators like Sean Cannell (Think Media), Gary Vaynerchuk, Casey Neistat, and Peter McKinnon. These individuals remind me of the importance of persistence, focus and continual growth.
Personal development has helped me become a self-starter. Even on tough days, I know how to dig myself out of a slump. If you’re just starting, seek out motivational content to build your mindset, it makes a huge difference.
6. Staying Focused Despite Distractions
One of the biggest challenges is staying focused. Over the years, I’ve had moments of distraction that led to inconsistency. Now, I’m working harder than ever to maintain focus and it’s paying off.
Final Thoughts
Motivation doesn’t come from just one place, it a combination of family, financial responsibilities, personal goals, belief in yourself and continuous self-improvement.
If you’re struggling with staying motivated, start by identifying what drives you. Lean on those motivators and don’t be afraid to adjust your strategies as needed. Remember, staying focus is a journey, not a destination.
