My YouTube Workspace Tour
Creating YouTube content requires a mix of creativity, consistency and tools that work for your goals. While many believe you need fancy equipment to get started, my journey and workspace proved otherwise. In the beginning, I started with very minimal equipment. Then over the years, I began to add more and more to my YouTube workspace. Today, I’m giving you a behind-the-scenes look at where I create my YouTube videos and share insights into my set up. Let’s dive in!
The Foundation: Start With What You Have
First and foremost, if you’re just starting, don’t stress about high-end gear. My YouTube journey began with an old camcorder that used mini DV tapes. That camera got the job done despite its limitations. Today’s smartphones are far superior to that old setup. The key is to start where you are with what you have. You don’t need a studio or expensive gear – just a phone and a plan to hit record.
My Workspace Essentials
Here’s a quick overview of my current workspace and the tools I use daily:
- Cameras: My Canon M50 and Sony ZV-1 are my go-to cameras, equipped with various lenses for different shots. But honestly, my smartphone still gets plenty of use.
- Microphones: Good audio quality is non-negotiable. My Rode PodMic USB and Rode Mic Studio Arm ensures clear sound for all my videos. When I need a microphone on the go, I use my Saramonic Blink 500.
- Lighting: Proper lighting sets the mood. I use a mix of overhead lights and Govee curtain lights for dynamic backdrops.
- Editing Gear: My MacBook Pro and iMac handle all my video editing and uploads, while my external drives store years of video content.
- Dream Board: A visual reminder of my goals and aspirations keeps me focused on my “why”.
Finding Your Space
Having a dedicated space for content creation can be a game changer. For me, my home office doubles as a workspace and a cozy movie room, which I use to create videos as well. It’s where I feel inspired and ready to hit record. However, your setup doesn’t have to be so elaborate. It could be a corner in your living room, your car or even your kitchen – anywhere you can consistently create.
Lessons from My Journey
Over the years, my YouTube workspace has grown. I’ve upgraded my equipment as my content and earnings grew. But in the beginning, I focused on creating consistent content with minimal tools. My advice: don’t overthink it. Start simple, stay consistent and let your content evolve naturally. Remember, the most important piece of equipment isn’t your camera or microphone – it’s your willingness to press record.
So what’s stopping you? Grab your phone, find your space and hit that red record button. Your audience is waiting!
